Canopy of Eucalyptus nitens, Australia

Eucalyptus nitens is a large-sized tree, in fast growth, native of mountainous regions with strong precipitation of NSW & Victoria (Australia). He can reach 60 meters in his natural environment but exceeds only rarely 30m to 40 m in the garden. Widely cultivated in silviculture for its wood in its country of origin, this majestic tree can live until 200 years.

The bark is very ornamental. Greenish originally, it shows, after exfoliation in long ribbons, a smooth and brilliant bark which goes of white-cream or red-mahogany to yellow - green.
E. Nitens belongs an excellent alternative to globulus E. in colder region.
