Alerce (Fitzroya cupressoides), measures near 3m. of diameter and would be more than 2000 years old. A whole luxuriant vegetation is protected in these places.
Fitzroya is a kind of the family of Cupressaceae (as cypress), who understands only a single species, Fitzroya cupressoides native of Andean mountains of central Chile and of neighboring regions of Argentina, where it is an important member of the valdivian rain forest.
