Rainforest of Mount Kenya
At the Mount Kenya, with Samuel Mwangi, of the NGO KENRIK, (becareful in Kenya, some head-botanists can charge you too much money to visit trees, and they explain you nothing!) we discovered superb Camphor tree which measures approximately nine meters of turn and would have more than 900 years old.
It is the witness of the old mountains' rain forests, stronghold of the elephants of Castle Forest. A natural bath-tub was formed in the base of its trunk. As many of rain forests, a multitude of epiphytes plants grow on this Camphor tree.
It should be known that Kenya, so wellknown for its parks and its wild animals, has nothing any more but 1,7% of closed canopy forests. This percentage, very little is protected and even if the forests are it, political corruption and poverty do not permit to have an absolute protection.
